Schkopau power plant - a clean performance for the environment
E.ON Kraftwerke GmbH consistently focuses on technologies that help the environment effectively. Why? Wherever primary sources of energy such as coal are used to produce energy, substances are created which, in high concentrations, are air pollutants. This means nitrogen oxide, sulphur dioxide and dust.
We only allow out what is clean
A great deal has been invested in the purification of flue gases and the measures we have put in place are on a scale similar to the workings of a chemical factory. Nevertheless, we do everything in our power to ensure that environmental protection and conventional electricity production is not a contradiction. The Schkopau power plant is a perfect example of this. The comprehensive flue gas purification systems are state of the art. The total investments for environmental protection are approximately 30 percent of the construction costs of a block-unit power station. Added to this are the ongoing costs for the operation and maintenance of the systems.
